M&A news: Trachet led the exit to Accenture for UK-based client The Storytellers

It has been an exciting period for Trachet. We recently closed Accenture’s acquisition of our client, The Storytellers - a creative management consultancy that partners with CEOs and other C-Suite leaders to accelerate transformational change in an innovative and people-led approach.

The transaction marks a landmark acquisition due to its high-impact prioritisation of human talent in the field of change management, presenting a dynamic, human and data-driven approach that enhances Accenture’s capabilities in workplace transformation. The Storytellers partner with CEOs and other C-Suite leaders to develop their narratives to accelerate transformational change and boost performance in their organisations. The firm’s human-centred approach will meet with Accenture’s tech and AI capabilities to develop how creative change management is structured globally to unlock extraordinary performance.

Trachet's sell-side advisory strategy:

Trachet acted as the exclusive sell-side advisor to The Storytellers due to our deep experience in generative AI, product and talent-focused M&As. Trachet’s lead role in deal completion highlights how talent, a unique business proposition, and its potential to be enhanced by AI, supersede traditional hallmarks of size and resource footprint when structuring a successful exit.

Founded in 2003, The Storytellers has a proven track record of helping business leaders with a human-centred approach to activate their transformations and new business strategies. They combine deep expertise in storytelling with facilitation, skills-building, creative communications, and immersive digital and live event production, to help leaders co-create and deliver a compelling, action-oriented narrative and experiences that inspire and motivate their colleagues and customers. Their team of professionals will join Accenture’s Talent & Organization/Human Potential practice.

What were the key considerations?

The ultimate goal was to help facilitate a deal which was based on a strong fit and potential for both parties once combined; in this case, Accenture appreciated the unique product and potential it could acquire while the Storytellers were offered with growth potential beating any other opportunity of investments.

With The Storytellers’ existing human-centred approach, and Accenture’s investment into new technologies, it is likely we will see a new model of creative change management which embraces the likes of generative AI to offer a more dynamic, data-driven, and expansive suite of solutions for C-Suite leaders, ultimately transforming organisational change across the world while accentuating the focus on people.

This transaction is also testament to the fact that relatively small teams can create big value and that there are opportunities in the deals market for bright companies that have the best talent. This landmark agreement also highlights how important it is for businesses in the current economic climate to have a proposition which can clearly be enhanced by the implementation of AI.

The Storytellers is the latest acquisition Accenture has made to strengthen its capabilities in its Talent & Organization/Human Potential practice, following the acquisitions of YSC Consulting in 2022, Cirrus, fable+, Future State and Root Inc. in 2021 and Kates Kesler in 2020.
